These days, the Kindle still remains as a household name, but unfortunately a lot of other companies have caught on and introduced their own readers, most notable is the Nook from Barnes and Nobles.

Ebook readers also face stiff competition from other gadget classes such as the tablet market, which tech giant Apple comfortably dominates. Kindle faces pressure from this gadget class as many opt for tablets, which are more expensive but much more diverse.

Will ebook readers, particularly Kindle, survive in the long-term? Fortunately, I think so. Ebook readers remain very cheap and many people who still love to read will continue to purchase this type of gadget to suit their reading requirements.
