Statement from Frank Cantwell, Interim Chamber President

Subject: Proposed Seattle Annexation Vote in November 2010

As interim President of the White Center Chamber of Commerce, our board and officers are committed to, and will ensure that all of our approximately 70 chamber members, and the entire White Center business community, will have a full understanding of the public safety, business development, regulatory, tax, and re-investment changes that could occur in White Center through Seattle annexation.

Our goal will be to ensure that all business owners in White Center have full information about these and related governance issues before the November 2010 annexation vote. The next ten months of community discussion will be a healthy opportunity for White Center residents and business owners to set a clear vision for our future, and a path on how to get there. We will then decide together, in a public vote, if Seattle is the best place for White Center to reach its potential. White Center has a bright, healthy future and so much to offer. The White Center Chamber of Commerce is eager to be an active partner in this important community discussion.
